In Loving Memory: Sean Alan Jamieson
July 14, 1990-November 28, 2017
On July 14, 1990, the world was made brighter, warmer and more loving with the birth of Sean Alan Jamieson. Sean lived life on his own terms and from birth became infamous for following his own path (sometimes to the chagrin of his parents). Lisa Miller, Don and Joanne Jamieson and Peter Vanderheiden worked as a team to parent and educate the loveable rogue that was Sean and all shaped him to become one of the very best humans on Earth. As a brother, Sean participated in shenanigans, often ending in stints of being grounded. but the consequences never lasted long because before anyone could express their frustration toward him, Sean would have us all laughing once again. All was easily forgiven. As an older brother, Sean was both mentor and ringleader, a teacher and bodyguard. He loved his siblings fiercely. Paul, Sydnea, Dustin and Samantha Jamieson, Casey and Jennifer Stephenson, and Paul and Leah Vanderheiden all recall sharing bear hugs and belly laughs with Sean as they grew together through the stages of childhood, adolescence and into adulthood. Sadly, the journey these siblings shared will now have one less participant as Sean tragically and unexpectedly passed away on November 28, 2017.
The family takes solace knowing that Sean experienced true happiness in the last months of his too-brief life. Only a few weeks ago Sean proposed to the love of his life, Brianna Miller. Though their love was new, Sean’s adoration of his fiancé was obvious. In photos and Facebook posts Sean bragged about his love.
Sean went out of his way every day to bring positivity and love to the people he knew. He was selfless and kind even when it wasn’t easy. Fights with Sean even ended in hugs and laughter, as you couldn’t help but forgive whatever witty barb he threw in your direction because he was endlessly funny. Sean’s very presence meant that something interesting, funny, possibly dangerous, and beautiful was bound to happen.
Sean was the music in an otherwise soundless world. Sean was the harmony to EVERYONE’S song. Together, we will have to learn to sing a new song, without Sean’s tender and comforting vocals to guide us. Nevertheless, our new song will be imbued with Sean’s soul, his love, and his passion for living life for the simple joy of it.
Anybody that would like to say goodbye to Sean is welcome to attend his memorial service at Denver Community Church. The address is 1101 S. Washington St. Denver, CO 80210. Services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:30 pm. Sean will be in attendance and available for goodbyes from 2:00-2:30, prior to the start of the memorial. He will be waiting in the chapel. The family is asking that all attendees honor Sean by remaining colorful and comfortable. Please avoid formal wear, black or mourning attire. Sean, even as a small child preferred comfort to formality. As a youngster, Sean would wear his older brother’s cloths, citing the fact that they were “soft” as reason enough to forgo the crisp new cloths his parents purchased for him. More than a few outfits were donated to the church because Sean had no interest in wearing them. In Sean’s memory, wear what makes you comfortable, or wear the cloths you loved when Sean loved you best. Parking at Denver Community Church is limited so please carpool. All parking is on the street as there is no parking lot. Please do not park at Whole Foods because you may be towed, and as good as he was at getting out of trouble, Sean won’t be able to bail you out.
Finally, keep Sean’s spirit in your heart by loving fiercely, facing adversity with jokes and laughter, and pursuing your passions simply for the sake of joy. That’s what Sean would want.
