Margaret "Carlene" BabcockOctober 29, 1931 ~ March 7, 2017 (age 85)
Carlene was born to William and Josephine Trembath on October 29th 1931 in Erie Colo. Where she spent most of her younger years. She moved to Vallejo Cali in 1943 when her Father was stationed at Mare Island during the war. She and her cousins picked a lot of peaches during this period which later caused her extreme dislike of them.
After the war, she returned to Erie and graduated from Erie High School in 1948. After High School, she attended Barnes Business College and received her secretarial degree. She has said the learning of shorthand and typing is one of her greatest accomplishments. Which led to her eventually owning her own secretarial company. Her first job out of college was at Moore Equipment Company where she met her husband Duane Babcock.
She raised their 4 children on her own after his untimely death in 1965. In doing so she taught them how to be independent and kind just like she was. She had several passions in her free time. Travelling with her children and friends was one of them. When she wasn’t sitting on a beach her heart was definitely still there. She was also a very accomplished artist using different mediums to express her creativity. Whether it was oil, acrylic, glass, or ceramic everything she made was beautiful.
She will be remembered for her smile, her wit, and her kindness for the people and animals she loved. She will be greatly missed.
